High Intensity Interval Training or Burst Training

By now you may have heard about High Intensity Interval Training or as some know it, Burst Training.  It is the latest form of exercise that is proven to stimulate growth hormone and promote fat-burning for up to 48 hours after finishing the activity.  In a nutshell, it takes the principles and science behind what makes a sprinters body so muscular and toned and puts it into a compact workout.

A single session of Burst Training is anywhere from 4-20 minutes and is repeated 2-3 times per week.  Due to the intensity it is important to rest a day in between to allow for proper recovery.  Plus, the body continues to burn calories for up to 48 hours after activity.

Here is what a typical Burst Training session looks like:

- 30 seconds of maximum intensity exercise
- 30 seconds of rest
- Repeat

Entire duration 4-20 minutes.
